AWARD: All-Kansas

The Campus Ledger earned its place as the best student newspaper in its division at a state journalism conference April 16-17 in Wichita, Kan.

During the culmination of the Kansas Associated Collegiate Press (KACP) conference and award ceremony, KACP announced the student newspaper of Johnson County Community College earned its All-Kansas award. To receive the award, the paper must score outstanding marks in all categories judged, including writing, visuals and design.

Members of The Ledger staff also earned 26 individual awards, including seven first-place certificates.

KACP named Miguel M. Morales, news editor, first runner-up for Journalist of the Year for his efforts in breaking and following the allegations of sexual harassment agains former college president Charles Carlsen. Morales also collected seven individual awards. KACP previously named Morales Journalist of the Year in 2005.
